Predsim – what it is for, how to use it, dosage and side effects!
The drug predsim is a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic and anti-allergic action, it helps to reduce inflammation, especially in joint , muscle or skin problems. This medication has prednisolone sodium phosphate as its active ingredient and can be found in drops and tablets, and can only be used by medical indication.
What is predsim?
Predsim is a corticosteroid medicine sold in syrup, drops and tablet that is used to treat inflammatory, autoimmune and allergic diseases, including symptoms such as cough. The indication in the predsim package insert includes the treatment of:
- Allergic conjunctivitis and allergic rhinitis;
- Bronchial asthma and bronchitis ;
- Mycoses and dermatitis – Skin infections;
- Herpes in the eye;
- Tuberculosis and aspiration pneumonia;
- Acquired hemolytic anemia (autoimmune);
- Rheumatic diseases – affecting the joints, bones, muscles, blood, tendons and bursae, such as acute and subacute bursitis ;
- Fibromyalgia – a disease that causes tenderness and pain in the muscles, fatigue, changes in sleep, mood and memory;
- Severe psoriasis – characterized by the presence of scaly, scaly plaques that reach more of the scalp;
- Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura in adults;
- Tuberculous meningitis .
Corticosteroid medicines have immunosuppressive action, that is, they decrease the body’s immunity when this reaction is necessary, as in cases of organ transplants, autoimmune diseases and allergic reactions. predsim can be found as 5 mg, 20 mg or 40 mg tablets, 11 mg/ml solution in drops (each ml contains 20 drops) and oral solution (syrup) at 1 mg per ml.

Predsim is used to treat certain types of allergies, inflammatory conditions, autoimmune diseases , skin and eye conditions, and cancers. This includes asthma, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis , nephrotic syndrome, leukemia, and lymphoma. This medication works by blocking the response of certain inflammatory cells that cause swelling, redness and pain in the body.
It is also used to reduce pain from certain aggressive forms of cancer, such as acute leukemia and aggressive lymphomas, and to treat certain endocrine conditions, such as decreased adrenal gland hormone production and swelling of the thyroid gland.
Who shouldn’t use predsim?
The use of the drug is contraindicated in patients with systemic fungal infections, hypersensitivity to prednisolone or to other corticosteroids or to any component of their formula. In addition, prednisolone should not be administered while being treated with phenobarbital, phenytoin, rifampicin, or ephedrine, as it reduces their therapeutic effects. In the case of children, pregnant or lactating women, this medicine should only be used on the advice of a doctor.

Dosage of predsim:
For multiple sclerosis:
Adult:
Recommended: 200 mg/day for one week, followed by 80 mg/day every day for one month
Children:
Initial: 0.14 mg-2 mg/kg (0.06 mg-0.9 mg/lb of body weight) daily in 3-4 divided doses depending on severity
For nephrotic syndrome:
Children:
Recommended: 60 mg/m2 bsa/day given in three divided doses for 4 weeks and 40 mg/m2 bsa/day single dose should be given every other day for 4 weeks
Dosage for Asthma:

Recommended: 1-2 mg/kg (0.4-0.9 mg/lb of body weight) daily in single or divided doses for three to 10 days
Allergic skin disorders:

What is the reaction of predsim?
The following reactions can commonly occur when using predsim . If any of these effects get worse or last a long time, you should see your doctor:
- Behavioral and mood changes;
- Accumulation of fluids inside the body (fluid retention);
- glucose intolerance
- High pressure;
- Increased appetite;
- Problem with excreting sodium from the body (sodium retention)
- Weight gain.
Predsim side effects:
Inflammation in the pancreas, stomach ulcer, other inflammation such as in the esophagus, followed by other symptoms well identified by people such as:
- insomnia ;
- tiredness ;
- nervousness ;
- redness on the body;
- itching including hives on the skin.
Some side effects of predsim may be rarer but may have high severities such as increased intraocular pressure, making the eyes bulge and having the possibility of increasing the numbers of infections present near the eyes some of which are caused by viruses, bacteria or even diabetes.
