7 Treatment for Food Poisoning
1. Drink Plenty of Water: To keep the body hydrated and ensure all fluids lost through Vomiting and Diarrhea are replaced, then drinking water or sucking on ice chips helps a lot.
2. Rest: Diarrhea , Vomiting and Fever lead to weakness; enough rest should be considered to give the body a chance to recover.
3. Avoid Caffeine Drinks or Dairy Products: Caffeine-containing products or dairy items act as irritants to the stomach which is no longer working properly.
4. Maintain Energy: Despite having no appetite, it is essential to consume food to avoid weakness. Simple broth and drinks with electrolytes can be consumed.
5. Start with Easily Digestible Foods: Easily digestible foods like soft rice, apple sauce , bananas and toast can be eaten once the vomiting has stopped.
6. Take a Probiotic: A good amount of “good” bacteria is lost by Diarrhea and it is helpful to consume a probiotic which will restore the balance of bacteria in the gut and help digest food.
7. Avoid Anti-Diarrheal Medications: Anti-diarrheal medication will make the body eliminate the organisms present in the system and make the situation worse.
