How to use Prednisolone?

Dosages vary according to the type of disease or form of medication, and should be indicated by the doctor, as they depend on the problem to be treated, age and individual response of the person to treatment.

Dosage:

Prednisolone 20 mg or 5 mg tablets:

• Adults: The recommended starting dose ranges from 5 to 60 mg, 1 tablet of 5 mg to 3 tablets of 20 mg, per day.
• Children: The recommended starting dose ranges from 5 to 20 mg, 1 tablet of 5 mg or 1 tablet of 20 mg per day.

Prednisolone Oral Suspension 3 mg/ml or 1 mg/ml:

• Adults: The recommended starting dose ranges from 5 to 60 mg, equivalent to 5 ml of Prednisolone  Oral Suspension at 1 mg/ml or 20 ml at 3 mg/ml, per day.
• Infants and Children: The recommended starting dose ranges from 3 mg/ml to 1 mg/ml.

Prednisolone Eye Drops:

• Adults: The recommended dose is 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye, given 2 to 4 times a day. In addition, in the first 24 hours of treatment, if necessary, the dose can be increased to 2 drops every 1 hour.

Prednisolone Drops:

• Adults: The recommended starting dose ranges from 5 to 60 mg, about 9 drops to 109 drops, per day.
• Children: The initially recommended pediatric dose ranges from 0.14 to 2 mg per 1 kg of the child’s weight, equivalent to a dose of 3 drops per 1 kg of the child’s weight, given 1 to 4 times a day.

Treatment should only be discontinued after medical advice and should be gradual.

 Prednisolone side effects :

The most common side effects are increased appetite, gastric ulcer with possible perforation and bleeding, inflammation of the pancreas, tiredness, insomnia, cataracts, increased pressure inside the eye, glaucoma, swollen eyes, increased occurrence of fungal eye infection and virus. In addition, diabetes and increased cholesterol values ​​can also arise.

Contraindications:
