5 home remedies for dry mouth!

Home remedies for dry mouth  are a condition that, if left untreated as soon as possible, can lead to a number of other complications. A dry mouth can cause much more than just a nuisance.

This condition, when continued, can lead to bad breath, fungal and bacterial infections, cavities and mouth ulcers. Characterized by the inability of the salivary glands to produce saliva, xerostomia as it is called by doctors, does not allow a wet mouth and, consequently, interferes with chewing and swallowing ingested food.

Home remedies for dry mouth:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar:

The organic acids contained in apple cider vinegar help regulate the pH of the mouth and stimulate salivation.

Ingredients:

– 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (30 ml);
– 1 cup of water (250 ml);

Preparation method:

  1. Dilute apple cider vinegar in a cup of  warm water .
  2. Drink the drink twice a day, until you restore the natural moisture in your mouth.

2. Chamomile tea:

Chamomile acts as a natural moisturizer for the  mouth and helps restore the pH of saliva. Its compounds rehydrate cells and accelerate recovery from injuries and cracks.

Ingredients:

– 1 teaspoon of chamomile (5 g);
– 1 cup of water (250 ml);

Preparation method:

  1. Pour the teaspoon of chamomile  in a cup of  boiling water and cover.
  2. Wait 5 minutes to rest and strain.
  3. Drink up to 3 cups of chamomile tea  a day.
  4. Repeat the treatment until the problem is controlled.

3. Lemon Juice:

Lemon juice can stimulate saliva production and relieve dry mouth. Its acidic nature can help clean your mouth and eliminate bad breath. Add the juice of half a lemon  and a little honey to a glass of water .

Drink this water  throughout the day to stay hydrated. You can also drink homemade lemonade to treat dry mouth. Be sure to use lemonade that does not contain sugar. Also, sprinkle some salt on a small piece of lemon . Rub it on your tongue to enhance your taste buds.

4. Fennel Seeds:

The flavonoids present in fennel seeds stimulate the flow of saliva and hence help to get rid of dry mouth. In addition, its aromatic flavor helps fight bad breath that accompanies dry mouth.

You can also mix equal amounts of fennel seeds together with fenugreek seeds. Grind thoroughly, bake in a pan, and add a little salt. Eat 1/2 teaspoon of this mixture after each meal.

5. Aloe vera juice:

The mucilage contained in aloe vera gel can help protect the oral tissue and taste buds from decreased saliva.

Ingredients :

– 5 tablespoons of aloe vera gel (75 g);
– ½ cup of water (125 ml);
– 1 tablespoon of honey (25 g);

Preparation method:

  1. Add all the ingredients in the blender and process until you get a homogeneous drink.
  2. Drink a glass of aloe vera juice on an empty stomach and, if necessary, have the drink again in the middle of the afternoon.

Note: Avoid consuming too much as it has a mild laxative effect.
