Cerebral Stroke – What is it, Symptoms and Treatments!

Stroke – What it is, Symptoms and Treatments that few know. Also, stroke   occurs when the blood flowing to the brain is interrupted. The result is oxygen deprivation in brain tissue, which can have devastating consequences.

The ability to recover from a stroke depends on the severity of the stroke and how quickly you get medical attention. A massive stroke can be fatal, but for many people with a stroke , recovery is long, but possible.

If stroke is not caught early, it can result in permanent brain damage or even death.

Causes: Stroke occurs when blood flow to your brain is interrupted. They can be ischemic or hemorrhagic.

Hemorrhagic Stroke: A hemorrhagic stroke occurs when blood vessels in the brain rupture, causing blood to pool in the surrounding brain tissue. This puts pressure on the brain and can leave part of your brain without blood and oxygen. Thirteen percent of strokes are hemorrhagic, according to the American Stroke Association.

Ischemic Stroke: Most strokes are ischemic. An ischemic stroke  results from a clot that blocks blood flow to a certain region of the brain . The clot could be a cerebral thrombosis, which means it forms at the site of the blockage in the brain . Alternatively, the clot could be a brain embolism, meaning it forms elsewhere in the body and moves to the brain , causing a stroke.

Symptoms: The severity of symptoms depends on the location of the Stroke and the size of the Stroke . Symptoms of a stroke can include:

  • A sudden, severe headache
  • vomit
  • neck stiffness
  • Loss of vision or blurred vision
  • dizziness
  • a loss of balance
  • Numbness or weakness on one side of your body or face
  • sudden confusion
  • difficulty speaking
  • swallowing difficulty
  • In severe cases, stiffness and coma may occur.

Treatments: If you are having a stroke , you need emergency care as soon as possible. The sooner you get treatment, the better your chance of survival and recovery.

Hemorrhagic Stroke: If you’re having a Hemorrhagic Stroke  , emergency caregivers can give you medication to lower your blood pressure and lessen bleeding. If you’ve been on blood thinners , they may give you drugs to neutralize them because these drugs make bleeding worse.

If you have a Hemorrhagic Stroke  , you may need emergency surgery, depending on the severity of the bleeding. They will do this to repair the broken blood vessel and remove excess blood that may be pressing on the brain .

Ischemic Stroke: For an Ischemic Stroke , emergency care may involve dissolving the clot if you arrive at the emergency room for treatment within a specific period of time after the onset of symptoms.

Clotting drugs called thrombolytics are often used for this purpose. Doctors often give aspirin in emergency situations to prevent additional blood clots from forming.

Before you can get this type of treatment, caregivers must confirm that the stroke is not hemorrhagic. Blood thinners can make a Hemorrhagic Stroke worse  , which can even lead to death.
