37 weeks pregnant: doubts? All you need to know!

At 37 weeks pregnant, the baby moves so much that it may cause little discomfort. But don’t give up! If you took good care of him these 8 and a half months, he will be very happy in your tummy. Also, this week can be a little complicated for the mother with the intensification of some symptoms and contractions.

Many pregnant women put off buying baby clothes and essentials until their third trimester. They want to make sure everything goes well with the pregnancy and they don’t want to “jinx” it by creating a nursery too soon. If this sounds familiar, at 37 weeks pregnant you are entitled to feel a certainty that your baby will be fine. Check in with your doctor and he will give you some insight into your growth and how it is developing.

Emotional changes at 37 weeks gestation:

Excitement is building in you and your partner. You will find that your mind is prone to drifting away, imagining what the baby will look like, visualizing yourself holding him and imagining exactly how he will fit into your life. You may also be scared, worried about whether everything is going to be okay with the baby and how you would handle it if it wasn’t.

You might be worried about how you’re going to handle your job. Fear of the unknown often makes you imagine the worst and it becomes easy to catastrophize possible outcomes. Most mothers seek security, but not always. Keeping fears to yourself can only make them worse, so look for some reliable sources to help you. Your doctor will certainly have heard of similar concerns many times.

Visits to the doctor at 37 weeks of pregnancy:

In the last month of pregnancy, you are more likely to develop a serious condition called preeclampsia . This is why your doctor wants to see you more often now that you are 37 weeks pregnant .

Your doctor will check your blood pressure to make sure it is not high, that there is no excess protein in your urine, and that your hands and face are not excessively swollen, as these are the top three symptoms of preeclampsia. .

Your doctor will also want to make sure your baby is okay. The placenta deteriorates as the pregnancy progresses, and usually by 42 weeks, it no longer feeds the baby glucose or eliminates its waste properly. If your doctor thinks your baby is at risk, he or she may recommend inducing labor.

Baby changes at 37 weeks of pregnancy:

Your baby is packing weight this week, he gains about 500 grams in fact. If you’re hungry, give in to your body’s signals that it wants more food. The energy from your diet is going directly to your baby’s fat stores and helping them to fill.

Your baby doesn’t have much room to move their entire body right now, but they will still be able to move into more comfortable positions. You may encounter protests when you’re feeling a little pinched. A little dot on the ribs or pelvis is usually enough for expectant mothers to stand up, move around, or do a pelvic swing.

That soft, fluffy hair that covers your baby’s skin is being reabsorbed this week. Much of this will end up in your baby’s intestines and will be included along with other waste products in your meconium, the first bowel movement. Vernix Caseosa, the oily white coating on your skin will also be reabsorbed.

Baby development at 37 weeks gestation:

Her delivery date is approaching, but doctors don’t consider a pregnancy to be “terminated” until 39 weeks.

Your baby now measures between 48 and 51 centimeters (19 to 20 inches), from head to heels. About the length of a bunch of Swiss chard. He weighs about 3 pounds (over 6 pounds).

Over the next two weeks, your baby’s brain and lungs will continue to mature. So if you’re going to schedule a C-section, your doctor won’t do it until week 39 (in the US), unless there’s a medical reason to schedule it in advance.

For example, if you have symptoms of preeclampsia  your doctor may recommend induction of labor this week. Many babies have hair all over their heads at birth. Some of them look like a real melenite!

Don’t be surprised if the baby’s hair color is not the same as yours. Dark-haired couples sometimes gasp when the baby is born blonde or red, and light-haired couples may also be surprised that the newborn has black hair. Of course, there are also babies who are born bald or with a little hair like peach.
