Vaginal cancer symptoms are also present in numerous other diseases that affect the region and, therefore, it is important to go to routine gynecological consultations and periodically undergo a preventive exam, also called a pap smear.
Main Symptoms of Vaginal Cancer:
- Smelly discharge .
- Bleeding outside the menstrual period.
- Pain during intimate contact.
- Bleeding after intimate contact.
- Urgency to urinate.
- Pain or burning when urinating.
To diagnose the condition, the gynecologist scrapes the surface tissue inside the vagina for biopsy. However, it is possible to observe a wound or suspicious area with the naked eye during a routine gynecological visit.
The treatment will vary depending on the type of cancer the woman has and its stage, but it can be done through radiotherapy or the removal of the tissues affected by the disease, through surgery. Chemotherapy is indicated for palliative treatment only to relieve symptoms.
Having one or more of these symptoms doesn’t mean you’re going to get a disease like cancer. In fact, some of these symptoms are more likely to be caused by a benign condition, such as an infection. The only way to know for sure what is causing these problems is to see a doctor.
