The First Signs of Diabetes that many ignore and go unnoticed like other diseases. Additionally, diabetes is often referred to as a silent killer as the symptoms are very subtle and can easily be mistaken for something else. According to the World Health Organization, more than 400 million are living with the disease globally. By knowing the symptoms of diabetes and being able to take action early on in the disease, you can prevent serious complications such as kidney failure or heart disease. Diabetes is a completely manageable disease with medication and a healthy lifestyle.

Frequent Urination:  When you have diabetes , your body becomes inefficient at transporting and utilizing whatever glucose you are taking. The end result is that your blood sugar levels will be raised. The body will perceive this as one of the Early Signs of Diabetes and will try to lower blood sugar levels as quickly as possible, therefore releasing the sugar into your urine.

Increased Thirst:  If you are urinating a lot, your body will also be losing fluid. Then your body will be dehydrated and you will likely feel thirsty no matter how much you are drinking. This becomes a vicious cycle if you are drinking sodas and fruit juices, which are high in sugar. Then blood sugar levels will be raised and your body will try once again to level sugar, causing frequent urination and increased thirst naturally.

Always Hungry and Grumpy:  Diabetes makes the body unable to transport the energy ( glucose ) present in the food consumed. The energy doesn’t reach the brain, so the organ doesn’t register that you’ve been fed. So you end up feeling grumpy, moody, and endlessly hungry.

Involuntary Weight Loss:  For most people, this sounds too good to be true. Unfortunately for people with diabetes , it is one of the  first signs of diabetes that the body is not functioning as it should. Especially if the food you are eating is not absorbed effectively and glucose is released in the urine. The body thinks it’s starving and ends up using the protein in your muscles to make up for the calorie deficit. The side effect is inexplicable: effortless weight loss.

Wounds Not Healing:  Do you have a wound or cut that isn’t healing very well? Unfortunately, this can be a symptom of diabetes . When blood sugar levels are too high, blood vessels can become damaged. As science explains, when you have an injury, blood rushes to the site to start the healing process, but when your blood vessels are damaged, this process can be slower than usual.
