  • Shortness of breath after physical exertion, which progresses to shortness of breath at rest
  • Cough
  • Difficulty climbing hills, which progresses to difficulty walking on flat surfaces
  • Fever
  • Cough that produces sputum that may be accompanied by blood

  • chest discomfort

Treatments: Oxygen therapy is the first step in the treatment of this disease.
Oxygen is administered through a face mask or nasal cannula (a flexible plastic tube with two openings that carries oxygen to each nostril). Sometimes it may be necessary to help with breathing with a machine.
