Parkinson’s Disease – What is it, Symptoms and Treatments!

Parkinson’s Disease – What it is, Symptoms and Treatments  that we should not ignore. In addition,  Parkinson  ‘s disease  affects the nerve cells in the brain  that produce dopamine . Symptoms of Parkinson’s disease include muscle stiffness, tremors, and changes in speech and gait. After diagnosis, treatments  for Parkinson ‘s  disease  can help relieve symptoms, but there is no cure. Parkinson ‘s disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder and the most common movement disorder.

Parkinson’s disease

It is characterized by progressive loss of muscle control, which leads to tremor of the limbs and head at rest, stiffness, sluggishness, and impaired balance. As symptoms worsen, it may become difficult to walk, talk, and complete simple tasks. The progression of Parkinson’s disease and the degree of impairment vary from individual to individual. Then check out Parkinson  ‘s Disease – What it is, Symptoms and Treatments.

Causes: Nerve cells use a brain chemical  called dopamine  to help control muscle movement. Parkinson ‘soccurs when the nerve cells in the brain  that produce dopamine  are slowly and progressively destroyed. Without dopamine , nerve cells in this part of the brain  cannot send messages correctly. This leads to loss of muscle function. The damage gets worse over time. The exact cause of the wear and tear of these brain cells  is unknown, but doctors believe that a mixture of factors may be involved:

Genetics: Specific genetic mutations may be involved in the causes of Parkinson’s, but these cases are rare, usually happening in family members affected by Parkinson’s disease. However, some genetic mutations appear to increase the risk of disease.

Environment: Exposure to certain toxins  or environmental factors may increase the risk of Parkinson ‘s disease in the future, but the risk is relatively small.

Symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease: The main signs and symptoms of Parkinson ‘s disease are:

  • tremor
  • stiffness
  • Letified movements
  • Bent posture
  • Imbalance
  • freezing

Other common symptoms: In addition to the symptoms mentioned, which are fundamental to suspecting Parkinson ‘s disease, there are other manifestations that are also common in the disease, such as:

These symptoms of Parkinson’s disease  may be present to a greater or lesser extent, according to the development of Parkinson’s disease in each  person.

Treatments: There is no cure for Parkinson’s disease, however, current treatments are quite effective in controlling symptoms. One of the most commonly used drugs is levodopa + carbidopa (Sinemet), which is transformed into dopamine  within the brain . Several other drugs that simulate the action of dopamine  in the brain  can be used, among them: bromocriptine, pramipexole and ropinirole. In addition to drug treatment for Parkinson  ‘s, regular exercise is important to delay the disease’s motor symptoms.
