Chilblains are caused by a fungus, Trichophyton, and can be classified as a mycosis of the skin. It is usually contagious, and transmission occurs directly, from individual to individual, and also through the use of contaminated objects, such as socks and shoes.
It is more common in the summer, precisely because this is a time when people tend to visit more public spaces, such as swimming pools and clubs, which are favorable places for the transmission of this fungus.
Home remedies to treat chilblains:
1. Oregano essential oil:
Mix three or four drops of oregano essential oil in a tablespoon of olive oil and apply this mixture to your nails several times a day for three weeks.
2. Lemon:
Extract the juice of several lemons, put it in a bowl and place your nails in said juice for 15 minutes, then dry it well. You can also cut the lemon into slices and apply it on your nails.
3. Garlic, lemon and iodine:
Mix one large clove of chopped garlic , ten drops of lemon and three drops of iodine. Let it sit for a week and then apply a layer directly over the ringworm on the fungus-affected nail. Repeat the action for a week.
4. Tea tree essential oil:
Mix a few drops of tea tree oil in a tablespoon of olive oil and apply directly to the toenail fungus. This formula should be applied alternately (every other day) until completing 20 days.
5. Garlic:
Boil 5 large garlic cloves in a glass of water. Pour this preparation into a large bowl with enough water so that the feet can be well immersed. Soak your feet in that water for 20 minutes. After this time, remove your feet and dry them well. Repeat this action for 5 weeks.
6. Coconut oil:
The medium chain fatty acids, present in coconut oil , work as natural fungicides. The fungal membrane is crucial to maintaining the “life” of the fungus, which is why so many antifungal treatments target the fungal membrane.
Fatty acids, such as those found in abundance in coconut oil , naturally insert themselves into the lipid (fat) layer of the fungal membrane, eventually leading to their elimination and the ultimate destruction of the fungus.
To use this remedy for ringworm, put on a glove and rub the coconut oil into the area, letting it absorb and dry naturally. Repeat for 2-3 times a day.
7. Apple Cider Vinegar:
Mix 5 drops of lavender essential oil in a glass of apple cider vinegar and pour it into a large bowl with water to cover both feet well and leave them for a while. Dry your feet well afterwards. Repeat this treatment for two weeks.
8. Hydrogen peroxide:
Mix 3% hydrogen peroxide and enough water to soak your feet and leave them on for half an hour. Do this treatment every day for three weeks. Finally, dry your feet well.
9. With them:
Grate a turnip and make compresses, letting it act for 15 minutes. Repeat three times a day.
10. Ginger:
Ginger has healing and anti – inflammatory power . To make this recipe, mash a ginger root and let it boil for 20 minutes. Then apply this solution to the affected area twice a day.
