  • Abnormal levels of electrolytes

Some people experience heart palpitations after eating heavy meals high in carbohydrates, sugar or fat. Sometimes consumption of foods with a high degree of monosodium glutamate (MSG), nitrates, or sodium can also cause heart palpitations .
