Ginger tea with honey for sore throat (recipes and tips)

Ginger tea with honey is an excellent alternative to relieve the pain of this problem.

Ginger tea has great analgesic properties, helps to reduce throat inflammation , providing quick pain relief.

Sore throat is one of the most common symptoms in medical practice, being common in both adults and children.

Inflammation of the throat usually arises due to pharyngitis and/or tonsillitis, that is, inflammation of the pharynx or tonsil, respectively.

There are several causes for sore throat, with more than half of the cases being viral in origin, usually due to flu , cold or mononucleosis.

Sore Throat of Viral Origin – about 50% of cases

Ginger and Honey Tea Recipe for Sore Throat


  • 5 slices of ginger
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 2 glasses (400ml) of water

Preparation mode

  • Boil water with ginger for 5 minutes.

  • When it’s very warm, strain and gargle three times a day and drink 1 cup 3 times a day.

2. Basil tea with honey


Preparation mode

  • Boil water and basil
  • Cover and let rest for 10 minutes
  • Strain, mix the honey and drink 2 cups (tea) a day

3. Onion tea with oregano


  • 1 liter of water
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 tablespoon oregano
  • Lemon juice

Preparation mode

Bring the water to a boil until bubbles form. add the onion and oregano, and let it boil for 7 minutes. turn off the heat, strain the infusion and add the lemon juice. Gargle with the preparation twice a day.

4. Fresh ginger tea


  • 500 grams of fresh and grated ginger 
  • 1 liter of water

Preparation mode

  • Put the grated ginger  in a pan with the water.
  • Let it boil for 15 minutes and strain the mixture.
  • Store it in a bottle and it can be enjoyed hot, warm or cold, at any time of the day.
  • In a short time, the throat irritation will disappear.
  • Do not use sugar or sweetener in the mixture, or it may lose its healing effect.

5. Pomegranate tea


Preparation mode

  • Cut the pomegranate  in half and boil it with the water for 15 minutes.
  • Place a plate or lid over the container until the tea cools.
  • Gargle with the mixture three times a day . Pomegranate  can also be used to prevent sore throats.
  • Cut it in half and remove the filling, leaving the shell to dry.
  • Save this bark to be used in a tea at the most favorable times for the flu to appear.
