  • Dextroamphetamine is recommended for the treatment of narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
  • It is also used to treat epilepsy and parkinsonism.
  • Dextroamphetamine is a psychostimulant medication and has a high potential for abuse if used over a long period of time.
  • It produces wakefulness and energy and also reduces hyperactivity in patients.
  • This medication also has a stimulant effect on the central nervous system and is considered to be more effective than racemic amphetamines.
  • The drug’s stimulant properties are quite similar to those of methamphetamine, but are slightly less effective.
  • Dextroamphetamine should be taken as directed by the doctor.
  • Dextroamphetamine is highly addictive and can cause insomnia if taken in large amounts over a long period of time.
  • It is also inadvisable to take it at night, due to the fact that it can cause insomnia .
  • When experiencing any symptoms such as loss of appetite and insomnia , you should inform your doctor as soon as possible.

Dextroamphetamine – How to use:  Guidance Dosage

  • The tablet is normally taken 2 to 3 times a day, with or without food .
  • The extended-release capsule is generally taken once a day with or without food .
  • The liquid is usually given once or twice a day, with or without  food .
    Management

Via oral.

  • You can take it with or without food .
  • Take the first dose as soon as you wake up in the morning, spacing doses between 4 to 6 hours.
  • Do not take it at night as it may cause difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.
  • Do not chew or crush the extended-release capsules.
