Causes of Chagas Disease : Chagas disease is transmitted by Trypanosoma cruzi, a parasite of the same family as African trypanosome, responsible for sleeping sickness.

The Chagas disease  parasite can be found in the feces of some insects, mainly one known as barber, the transmitter of Chagas disease   is one of the biggest health problems in South America, Central America and also Mexico. Due to immigration, Chagas disease also affects people on other continents today.

It is also possible to become infected with Chagas disease from the ingestion of raw food contaminated with feces of the parasite that has Chagas disease , from blood transfusion or organ transplants contaminated with Chagas disease , from direct contact with the parasite which transmits  Chagas disease  and with other animals that are infected with Chagas disease .

Chagas disease can also be congenital, in the case of mothers infected  with Chagas disease  who transmit Chagas disease  to their child during pregnancy.

Treatment for Chagas Disease: The treatment for Chagas disease, which is caused by the bite of an insect that transmits  Chagas disease , is done with the ingestion of Benzonidazole, an antiparasitic drug offered free of charge by the SUS to treat Chagas disease .

The dose of Chagas disease medication should be guided by a doctor according to body weight, and repeated every 12 weeks for 60 days, without having to stay in hospital.

Treatment for Chagas disease should be started as soon as possible after the bite of the mosquito that transmits  Chagas disease , that is, during the acute phase of Chagas disease , to prevent the development of Chagas disease.

Main Symptoms of Chagas Disease: Chagas disease has two stages, acute and chronic. The acute phase may present with moderate symptoms or no symptoms at all.

Acute Symptoms:

Symptoms of this stage of Chagas disease may go away on their own. If symptoms of Chagas disease persist and are not treated, Chagas disease can progress to its chronic phase, but only after the remission phase.
