Glycemia – What is it, Symptoms and Treatments!

Glycemia – What is it, Symptoms and Treatments  that everyone should know, because, In addition,  Glycemia is the concentration of glucose in the blood or more precisely in the plasma. Our body transforms some of the ingested carbohydrates into glucose and blood glucose  is the level of glucose present in our blood. It is directly related to the insulin released by the pancreas , due to the amount of carbohydrates ingested throughout the day.

What is High Glucose or High Blood Sugar? A lot is said about high glucose or high blood glucose , but what does it mean after all?? Glucose is a sugar found in grapes , other sugary fruits, honey (alongside levulose), blood, the juice of some vegetables, etc. It is an easily assimilated and very nutritious monosaccharide.

Blood glucose  is the amount of glucose present in our blood. Glucose is a type of carbohydrate obtained through the digestion and absorption of food. Carbohydrates are sugars present in most foods, not just sweet foods, and are the main source of energy for our body’s cells. Bread, crackers, and pasta are examples of foods rich in carbohydrates that are not sweet and that raise blood sugar .

Blood glucose symptoms:  The human body needs a specific amount of sugar to function properly. When there is blood glucose , some common symptoms may appear, such as:

  • Mental confusion
  • abnormal behavior
  • Difficulty performing simple activities and performing routine tasks
  • It may also be that other symptoms appear, although these are much less common, such as seizures, loss of consciousness and coma.

Symptoms such as palpitations, tremors, anxiety , cold sweat, excessive hunger and tingling around the mouth can also be caused by blood glucose . But beware: these are not unique symptoms of this disorder. A specific blood test is recommended to know if the cause is really blood glucose or not.

Blood glucose treatment:  To treat blood glucose , two types of treatment are needed: initial and immediate. This helps in increasing blood glucose levels and in identifying the condition that is causing the blood sugar in order to treat it so that it does not recur.

Initial treatment depends primarily on the symptoms presented. Simpler signs of the disease can be treated by ingesting sugar, such as sweets and fruit juices. However, if symptoms are more severe, the patient may need glucagon injections or intravenous glucose injections, as well as changes in diet and exercise routine .

Preventing the recurrence of blood glucose requires other measures. If a drug is the cause of blood glucose , the doctor may suggest replacing it with another. Now, if the cause is a tumor in the pancreas, the treatment is done by surgical intervention.

Possible Complications:  Ignoring the symptoms of blood glucose can lead to serious consequences, such as loss of consciousness. That’s because the brain needs glucose to function properly. Blood glucose can also lead to other complications such as seizures, coma and even death.

Prevention:  When blood glucose is triggered for many hours without eating, the person should eat foods that increase glucose , such as a glass of juice, a piece of chocolate or even a glass of sugar water. For those who have a tendency to fasting blood glucose , the right thing is not to stop eating every 3 hours.

In the case of postprandial or reactive glycemia, replacing foods with high glycemic doses, such as sugars, pasta and cakes, for carbohydrates with a low glycemic load and rich in fiber, which decrease the speed of insulin release in the body, such as vegetables. , whole grains and pulses (beans, peas, soy, lentils) are the best way out. It is also good to cut out juices and sweets, shorten the intervals between meals so that you eat every three hours and eat well before exercising .
