Causes of Acute Lumbago: Acute Lumbago  can  be caused by excessive sprain, muscle strain, or trauma. One of the most common causes is incorrect weight lifting (eg in weight training) or an overload of the back muscles  . Strain is usually caused by repetitive and prolonged movements over time, involving the muscles and tendons.

Whiplash is an injury that occurs during a car accident. The body slams into the back of the car violently and then is pushed in front of the steering wheel. Everyone thinks that it only causes neck pain, but in fact the back of the car hits against the spine  and then the neck. These diseases stretch one or more muscles beyond their physiological length and cause injury. There are several situations that increase the risk of  Acute Lumbago or a sprain:

Symptoms of Acute Lumbago: Back pain can be mild or severe and debilitating. The most common symptoms of  acute lumbago  are as follows:

  • The pain is felt in the lower part of the spine ,
  • The central or lateral lumbosacral area may be painful to the touch,
  • The pain suddenly appears,
  • Stiffness and severe limitation of movement,
  • The patient must remain in an incorrect position (bent forward),

The patient usually feels better when he is at rest and has difficulty standing for long periods or when walking. Acute lower back pain caused by acute lumbago usually  passes quickly; Complications may be felt intermittently for a few weeks, rarely becoming chronic.

Treatment For Acute Lumbago: To quickly improve  acute lumbago , take appropriate measures just feel the pain. Here are some tips on how to control  Acute Lumbago  early on:

  • Do normal physical activities for the first few days, this helps relieve symptoms and reduce the inflammation of  acute lumbago
  • Apply heat or ice to the area with acute lumbago . Try ice for the first 48 to 72 hours and then use heat.
  • Taking pain relievers such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) help relieve the pain of  acute lumbago.
  • During sleep, try lying in the fetal position, with a pillow located between your legs.
  • If you usually sleep on your back , place a pillow or rolled-up towel under your knees to relieve acute lumbago .
  • It may only be necessary to reduce your activity for the first two days.
  • Do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting the back for the first 6 weeks after acute lumbago  pain begins.
  • Start with exercises like walking, cycling and swimming are great examples.

Such aerobic activities can help blood flow backwards and promote healing, also strengthening stomach  and back muscles  . Stretching and strengthening exercises for  acute lumbago  are important to improve  acute lumbago  for a long time; however, starting them too soon after an injury can make the pain worse.

A physical therapist can help you determine when to do such stretching and muscle strengthening and how to start. Avoid the following exercises during initial recovery from acute lumbago , unless your doctor or physical therapist agrees:

  • ballet
  • football
  • golf
  • prank call
  • Lifting the legs when lying down
  • Sit-ups with straight legs (instead of bent knees)
  • Lifting weights gradually resume exercise.
